I eventually received one of the first to be available in the UK on 13 July 2016 - Serial No 201 Extras that most will purchase - Internal ATU, Internal Li-Ion Battery with External Charger, Clock and external MH3 Microphone will lift the price to about 1,170 GB Pounds (1600 US Dollars) in total.
This has now risen in December 2016, to appx 1,420 GB Pounds (1700 US Dollars).
Elecraft's new KX2 “stealth” transceiver can go wherever your imagination takes you. Thanks to state-of-the-art construction techniques, it’s only 5.8 x 2.8 x 1.5” and weighs just 13 ounces, making it the smallest full-featured HF radio on the planet. Yet it puts out up to 10 watts, covers 9 bands, and shares many features with the KX3. It also works with the KXPA100 amplifier.
To maximize your freedom to roam, you can outfit your KX2 with an internal 2.6 amp-hour Li-ion battery. Current drain is as little as 135 mA, yielding up to 8 hours of typical operation on a single battery charge. There’s also an internal automatic antenna tuner module (KXAT2), which can tune a random wire, dipole, or whip on multiple bands.
A rear tilt-foot angles the KX2 for use on any surface, from desktop to park bench to rock. The KX2 also makes a great mobile rig, and can even be used hand-held. It includes a built-in microphone for HT-style operation.
The KX2’s powerful 32-bit DSP offers features dual watch, stereo audio, user-programmable filter bandwidths, noise blanking, noise reduction, and auto-notch. RTTY and PSK data modes are built in—no PC needed, as well as a memory keyer and digital voice recorder for transmit.
(The cases above are cheap Chinese copies of the Pelecase ones, and were 10 Dollars each).
These are the two bought in Dayton, Ohio by Keith and Terry (G0TSH amd MW0ZUS) in May 2016.
There are two optional padded carrying cases for the KX2, including the CS40 and larger CS60. Both include belt straps and an interior compartment. However, I am opting to use and cheaper but more robust and protective Pelicraft case (see below), at half the price, ex MOD of the Elecraft ones.
80-10 metre ham bands; general coverage receive from 3-32.0MHz (also covers 0.5 to 3 MHz with reduced sensitivity)
All modes: SSB, CW, and Data (four sub-modes)
Ultra-compact size: 2.8”H x 5.8”W x 1.5”D; 13 oz
Rear tilt foot provides 3-point mount for rugged terrain
Custom high-contrast LCD with alphanumeric text display
Current drain as low as 135 mA in receive mode
High-performance 32-bit floating-point DSP
Built-in PSK/TTY decode/encode allows data mode operation without a PC
Synthesizer has 1 Hz tuning resolution
Integrated numeric keypad for direct frequency entry
Software-defined-radio (SDR) architecture for versatility
Switchable preamp and attenuator
8-band RX EQ
Simultaneous dual receive over up to +/- 23 kHz for split DX operation
Built-in speaker, with stereo jack for headphones or powered speakers
Easy-to-use Passband Tuning (PBT) for shift, width, hi-cut and lo-cut.
Total 1170 GB Pounds (apx).... (1500 US Dollars apx equivalent)
Prices as quoted by Waters and Stanton who have no inventory, as yet !! But they have my £500 deposit (Jun 2016).
Isn't it strange that most prices in UK, end up at exactly XX9.95 !!!
I have opted out of the Elecraft CS60 Padded Carry Case at 49.95, as I can get a much more suitable case for half that price in the shape of a Pelecraft EX WD Gunsight case (See Below)
These Ex-Ministry of Defence Gunsight Cases come either Yellow or Black. The one below is the one I have, as new at 25 GB Pounds ( 34 US Dollars) A very rugged case that will not deform if a tank runs over it, and also waterproof, fireproof and blastproof - On test one was dropped from over 1,000ft with no damage!!
Black case above has Keiths (G0TSH) KX2 in it for demonstration. Thanks, Keith for the pics !!

Two units were purchased at the Dayton, Ohio Hamfest on 20 May 2016 by Keith (G0TSH) and Terry (MW0ZUS) and are believed to be the only two units in UK in use at the present time (May 2016), other than the KX2 demonstration model at Waters and & Stanton which anybody can test drive if they fancy..
Fifty were available at Dayton, and were sold in minutes, and possibly up to 1,000 or more advance orders were taken over the three days of the Hamfest, as there was a permanent queue at the Elecraft stand.....
I think it is highly unlikely that any will be on sale in UK until these pre-orders are fulfilled in USA, and the main dealer (Waters and Stanton) in UK will get stock.
Watch this space for any further news !! I have the first one on order !!.
(later) - My KX2 arrived from Waters and Stanton on 13 Jul 2016 but with all the 'extras' not fitted !! It was ordered specifically that they would be, so it went back at their expense !!
