80m-6m Linear Amplifier, A compact solid-state linear to boost 5 or 10W transceiver to 50W output level. Ideal for mobile operation in combination with HF / 6 meter transceiver such as Yaesu FT-817, or Elecraft KX2
This beautifully made Linear Amplifier is designed to work from a maximum of 5 Watts RF in from small Transceivers and was specifically designed to work with the Yaesu FT-817ND Transceiver, but works well (without band sensing) on any other transceiver. It has a maximum RF output of 50 Watts.
They are rarely seen in UK, but one was sold recently by Radioworld, for 329.00 GB Pounds, Second Hand in 2015. I bought mine from another radio amateur friend for under 200.00 GB Pounds to use when out 'Portable' with my Elecraft KX2. To provide the 12V required for the Radio and the Amplifier I use a small Pb 7Ah battery, which lasts about 5-6 hours in normal Tx/Rx use with the radio at 5W and the Amplifier at 50W RF out..
Sadly Tokyo products went out of business, in 2010, and were a great loss to the Radio Amateur market, as their products were all so well engineered with top quality workmanship and materials.
